Since she was 16 years old, Katherine Brozowski knew she wanted to be a floral designer. During the plant science portion of her high school FFA program, she learned about cutting flowers and creating floral arrangements. She was instantly hooked. After learning flowers were a profession, she knew that’s what she wanted to do with her life. After receiving her driver’s license, her dad bought her a car but told her she had to pay for the insurance and gas with an after-school job. He told her to do something she enjoyed. Katherine already knew she wanted to be a florist, so she opened up a phone book and called every flower shop in San Diego. Wild Orchid Florist was the only shop that gave her an interview. Former owner, David Daoud, took Katherine under his wing and pushed her to do everything and anything related to floral design. In 2016, Katherine purchased Wild Orchid Florist, even signing the papers on her birthday since it was such a special day! She purchased Wild Orchid Florist because she loved everything the business stood for - quality, community, and making peoples’ days. Katherine knew she could take it to the next level and connect with more people through her floral art. Katherine has watched Wild Orchid Florist go from a small flower shop to never having a slow day. Her nonprofit organization, Remember Me, delivers flowers to local people in assisted living homes, shelters, and chemotherapy centers. She makes sure everyone receives flowers, including the nurses and staff because they deserve it just as much. Wild Orchid Florist strives to be there for special occasions and also for no occasion at all. Katherine and her team are professional day makers! The floral team wants to bring others the joy that floral design brings them through their arrangements.
